COBRAMAN dealt with the revitalisation of brownfield sites. All over Europe, revitalisation of brownfield sites plays an important role in avoiding urban sprawl and improving the quality of the urban environment.
Brownfield land often endangers public health and creates environmental risks. Rehabilitation of these areas will be of growing importance in the new EU member states and will require large investments.
Brownfield revitalisation is often a long term and complex process involving a wide range of professional disciplines, political actors and different stakeholder groups. The project provided essential knowledge for the management of the revitalisation processes and for assisting municipalities in the CENTRAL EUROPE programme area to develop such areas in a more rapid and more effective way.
Result to be capitalised: Providing Know-how and management instruments for a professional management of brownfield regeneration processes; educational scheme for a "European School for brownfield management".
COBRAMAN has been financed by the Central Europe Programme.
